Born from over 10 years of expertise in the transformation of SiO2 fibers, belcor® its a new BU that develops and produces innovative substrates and papers (nonwovens) whose main characteristics are low thermal conductivity and good compression- relaxation behavior, making them a key application in high-voltage battery systems for EVs.
belcor®’s differential value is a best balance between:
• Thermal run away and fire related events resistance
• Compression-relaxation behavior • Cleanliness
• Cost
Wet laid process to produce substrates and veils (papers)
The possibility of producing multilayer products (e.g., with the addition of a mica layer or other layers)
Ready-for-assembly solutions including 3D shapes, adhesives, etc.
belcor®’s portfolio of specific products and solutions for three basic applications for high voltage battery systems:
• Enclosures, with two main functions: safety against critical events (fire exposure resistance and thermal runaway events) and thermal insulation (aimed at improving battery thermal management).
• Venting pads, with a function to safely facilitate the evacuation of harmful gases released by the cells.
• Cushion pads or cell spacers (between battery cells), which improve battery performance and lifespan by managing cell swelling and breathing phenomena.
