Russian vehicle makers visit Basque country

ICR Consultores - 2009/December/02

Bilbao, 2.12.2009—Basque automotive cluster ACICAE and regional development agency SPRI have organized the Automotive Encounters-Russia at the AIC-Automotive Intelligence Center on December 3 and 4 to publicize the capabilities of Basque firms in the automotive industry and promote their presence and business interests in this particular market.

The encounter is linked to ACICAE’s active policy designed to attract foreign vehicle makers and Tier 1 providers to the Basque Country. The idea is also to give local firms the chance to intensify contacts and relations, identify real business opportunities and capture new clients.

To that end, 25 Basque firms will be taking an active part in the encounter, which will involve individual meetings with purchase managers from Russian vehicle makers, face to face encounters with selected companies and visits to local factories.

Russia is one of the world’s leading emerging markets. European, American, Japanese and Korean vehicle makers are all taking up positions there. Despite the crisis, 3 million cars were notched up last year, a figure the carmakers are hoping to hike to 4 million by 2015.
